Shout out to the great chicas at my hair salon!  This past weekend, while getting my daughter's their haircuts, we had a salon poll of the coolest working mom.  An overwhelming majority, including myself, voted for her!

Days away from Opening Day, and the NY Yankees are reportedly the most valuable sports franchise in the U.S.  Who did they beat? Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys.  With all of the old time (and injured) players on the payroll this year, do you think that the Yanks are worth 2.3 billion?

It's a BIG deal in my house!

From iCarly to Victorious to Sponge-Bob, Nickelodean is a BIG deal in my house, spawning many fights to "make it louder" in my living room.  My two girls love Nick, so you can imagine it's going to be like Oscar night in my house tomorrow night during the Nickelodean 2013 Kid's Choice Awards, especially since Katy and her BFF Selena and Taylor will be there!

Safety tips for Sandy RV-ers

Posted By: Jodi · 1/22/2013 1:19:00 PM

Yesterday, after work I went to check in on my friend who has gone thru the ringer after SuperStorm Sandy.  Her beautiful house, located between the canal and the neighborhood beach, is gutted on the bottom floor after four feet of water crashed in and is also in desperate need of new siding among hundreds of other repairs.  Did I mention the needed funds?  Needless to say, my friend, her husband, and two very young children are staying, rebuilding and have lived in an RV in their driveway since Sandy.

Made me think of her neighbors and other Long Islanders doing the same...since the frigid temperatures are here I want to make sure you are all still safe.

Here are some RV space heater safety tips for you.  Your friends will always be there for you and do what we can!  We all want you to stay safe!

Visiting the ER

I don't have to tell you....one of a parent's biggest fears is when your child is hurt...or worse.

My ten year old daughter was lucky.  While roller skating at a birthday party last weekend, she broke her leg.  I had no idea until we went to the emergency room at the closest hospital near us.  I'll never forget trying to keep it together and reassure her everything would be alright, while wanting to fall apart myself when the orthopedic surgeon gave us the news.  She is in one of those hi-tech boots for 8 weeks and (hopefully) ok enough to go back to school Monday.

Almost one week later, I can talk about this experience.  Plus, I can ask other parents who have gone through similar circumstances what did you learn or do that made life easier for your child...and for your family.  If that's you and you happen to ...
