A midnight snack is even worse for our bodies than we thought! Forget about what it does to your diet. A new study says midnight snacking is bad for your teeth.
Research in the journal Eating Behaviors suggest that it doesn’t matter what kind of food you eat in the middle of the night. The problem comes down to saliva flow, or lack of it during sleep. Because we produce less saliva as we sleep, and it’s needed to wash food from the mouth, decay grows faster. So, if we’re hungry in the middle of the night and have to eat a little something, researcher say it’s important to brush our teeth before climbing back into bed.
Are you a midnight snacker? Has it done major damage to your teeth?
