They're Naming Blizzards Too?
You know the National Weather Service names hurricanes. Here on Long Island, we're all familiar with names like Gloria, Irene, and Hugo.
Now, we may learn names like Gandolf, Brutus, and Orko.
The Weather Channel is planning on naming blizzards this winter! Like with hurricanes, the names will go in alphabetical order. However, they're not going to alternate male & female names.
Here are the names you could hear Doppler Dave Maddux use for big snowstorms:
Athena
Brutus
Caesar
Draco
Euclid
Freyr
Gandolf
Helen
Iago
Jove
Khan
Luna
Magnus
Nemo
Orko
Plato
Q.
Rocky
Saturn
Triton
Ukko
Virgil
Walda
Xerxes
Yogi
Zeus
Some of these names are movie references, but many of them stem from mythology.
So...will you feel better having a name to mutter as you shovel-out your driveway?
