Today marks the anniversary of everyone's first favorite show! Sesame Street turns 40 today! While today's Gordon is different than my Gordon growing up, Mr. Hooper is in a store in the sky, and Snuffy, Elmo and a whole slew of characters didn't exist when I was a wee babe, is there any doubt about how grateful we are to have had Sesame Street as an institution over all these years; from our black and white TV's to our hi def flat screens? The NY Daily News has a great salute to our friends on Sesame Street and from me, my 7 year old and my four year old, I say thanks! Thank you, Sesame Street for teaching my kids their A-B-C's when they were two, and for allowing me to take a shower in the morning.
They really captured our attentionâ¦we are all talking about themâ¦.theyâve provided great material for radio peeps like me, but enough is enough! Richard Heene, mad scientist and reality show wannabe â meet the mad and in need of a good therapist, Brooke Hundley! Will the Looney Parade ever end?
Itâs always hard to hear the news that your friends are leaving, especially when you see them everyday. Iâve had the pleasure of working with Jim Douglas and Kim Berk for over eight years. As a team, we have been through a lot together but now itâs time to wish them the best as they move on to new opportunities. Theyâre so talented and I know weâll be seeing them around. â¥
Change in this business is constant though and today we welcomed a new member to our KJOY family. Please help me, Bill Edwards and the entire staff welcome a Long Island legend to the KJOY Morning Show! This week, Steve Harper will be waking you up in the mornings on KJOY! Still the same great variety, accurate Long Island weather from Doppler Dave and the Weather Channel, up to the minute traffic from Berni Vider and the morning information that you've counted on KJOY to deliver for years... and now Steve Harper tooâ¦who in my humble opinion has the best hair in the business!
Steveâs co-host? Uhâ¦.weâre working on that and look forward to welcoming that person to our KJOY family very soon!
Thanks Jim, Kim, Steve and thank you for listening to KJOY 98.3!
It's been quite awhile since I have sat down to watch an entire VMA show on MTV; a decade at least. I was prepared to watch the first ten minute tribute to the King of Pop with Madonna and Janet Jackson, but who knew the highlights (or lowlights) would quickly follow. While the world's music community appropriately disses Kanye today, like Beyonce, Pink and Katy Perry, I'd like to actually thank him for introducing the whole world to the grace, talent and class act that is Taylor Swift. We love playing her music for you on KJOY. Personally, I look forward to my young daughters growing up with her music and not some other forgettable teenage diva. Role model is a strong suggestion that usually doesn't live up to expectation, but I have no doubt Taylor Swift will succeed. BTW, here's Kanye's "heartfelt" apology to Taylor and her fans…
