An attorney for George Santos says he plans to seek a pardon from President Trump after he was sentenced last week to more than 7 years in prison for committing fraud. The White House has not yet commented about the request.

Santos was in Congress for just 11 months before he was expelled when the House Ethics Committee found “substantial evidence” he broke federal laws. He was indicted in May 2023 and plead guilty to 23 charges.

Santos is set to turn himself over to the feds July 25.
