Tire failure caused fatal crash of bus carrying Farmingdale students

An investigation by The National Transportation Safety Board says the crash of a charter bus upstate that was carrying the Farmingdale High School marching band in 2023 was caused by worn underinflated tires and “previous impact damage”. It caused the bus to lose control and plunge down an embankment.

Band director Gina Pellettiere and chaperone Beatrice Ferrari were killed in the crash. and at least five students were critically injured.
