Dix Hills Man Indicted for Plot to Kidnap, Kill Business Rival

Nassau County district attorney

(Press Release) MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that a Dix Hills man was indicted on six counts of conspiracy and six counts of criminal solicitation for hatching a plot to hire a hitman to kidnap and murder a former business associate.

Navdeep Singh, 48, of Dix Hills, was arraigned before Judge Colin O’Donnell on grand jury indictment charges of two counts of Conspiracy in the Second Degree (a B felony); two counts of Criminal Solicitation in the Second Degree (a D felony); three counts of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree (an E felony); one count of Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree (an A misdemeanor); and four counts of Criminal Solicitation in the Fourth Degree (an A misdemeanor).

The defendant pleaded not guilty and was remanded. He is due back in court on September 4, 2025. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

“A years-long dispute between business rivals took a disturbing turn when this defendant allegedly hired a hitman to kidnap and dispose of his former associate,” said DA Donnelly. “Navdeep Singh set the times and the places, meeting with his would-be hitman, providing descriptions, photos and instructions to extort and murder his intended victim. The incredible detective work and fast action by the Nassau County Police Department’s District Attorney’s Squad and my prosecutors ensured that Navdeep Singh’s plot was never carried out and he is now indicted for his many crimes.”

DA Donnelly said that, according to the charges, on May 29, 2025, the defendant allegedly had a conversation with another individual and solicited the person to kidnap and murder a former business associate in exchange for $100,000 and ten acres of land in India.

The defendant provided the individual with his telephone number so that they could communicate about the alleged plan.

Between May 31, 2025, and June 7, 2025, the defendant met with and communicated via telephone with the would-be hitman about the plan and allegedly provided the individual with information, photographs and cash.

On June 3, 2025, the defendant allegedly instructed the individual that the victim should be kidnapped from his home and held in another state for approximately ten days. The defendant would then request a check be written to him from the victim’s company and once that check cleared, the defendant requested that the victim be killed.

Two days later, on June 5, 2025, the defendant allegedly met with the individual he hired and provided them with $7,000 cash as a deposit for the kidnapping and murder.

During this time period, the defendant also showed the individual an image of the intended victim on his phone, sent images of the victim’s home and one of the victim’s cars, purchased four cell phones and provided them to the hired hitman to contact him, and met with the individual once again to drive past the intended victim’s residence in Nassau County.

The victim knew the defendant for several years as part of ongoing businesses dealings with his construction company and has been engaged in litigation with the defendant’s company, Gravity Construction Corp., for approximately two years after he took the defendant’s company off a job he was managing.

Singh was arrested by members of the Nassau County Police Department’s District Attorney Squad in Manhasset on June 7, 2025.

The case is being prosecuted by Pharmaceutical Diversion and Cybercrimes Unit Chief Kelsey Lorer and Senior Assistant District Attorney Nicole Aratoon of the Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau, under the supervision of Bureau Chief Jeremy Glicksman, and under the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for the Investigations Division Rick Whelan. The defendant is represented by Michael Matera, Esq.

The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
