A U.S. Postal Service employee was arrested Thursday in Wantagh after police say he stole mail and was caught with cocaine.
Nassau County police said coworkers at the Wantagh Post Office reported 40-year-old Daniel Schultz of Levittown for allegedly stealing parcels. Officers later found multiple packages in the backseat of his car. Schultz also had a plastic bag containing what appeared to be cocaine, according to a police news release.
Schultz faces charges including possession of cocaine, stolen property, criminal tampering, and three counts of petit larceny. His arraignment at Nassau District Court, originally set for Saturday, has been rescheduled for Oct. 1.
Police did not immediately say how many parcels were stolen or confirm Schultz’s position at the post office.
