Double-Decker Airplane Seats

Double-Decker Airplane Seats

Delta planes are shown at their gates Monday, June 13, 2022, at Salt Lake City International Airport, in Salt Lake City. Airline fares have jumped 47% since January and remain higher than they were before the pandemic, which could be leading to a slowdown in the number of seats airlines can sell. Bookings for flights within the United States fell 2.3% in May compared with April, research firm Adobe Digital Insights said Tuesday. The value of those sales rose 6%, however, to $8.3 billion, because of price increases. (AP Photo/Rick Bowmer)

As if flying coach isn’t crowded enough, double-decker airplane seat prototypes were introduced at a recent aircraft expo in Germany. The double-decker seat design would eliminate overhead storage and instead cram together two seating rows. Those seated in the bottom row would have the ability to stretch their legs out in front of them, but would be tucked just beneath another seat. Do you think you would travel like this, especially if it costs less?
