East Farmingdale, NY- A five foot long, nine year old American Alligator was surrendered Wednesday to authorities in Suffolk County. Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA said the American Alligator, named Zachary, was purchased out of state and the owner did not have a permit to keep the animal in New York and “could no longer care for it”.
The Suffolk County SPCA is now offering residents of exotic animals the opportunity to surrender without penalty or charges for illegal possession. Contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722.
