WASHINGTON (AP) — The FBI searched ex-President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate as part of an investigation into whether he took classified records from the White House to his Florida home. Trump announced the search in a lengthy online post. The search, which the FBI and Justice Department didn’t immediately confirm, marks a huge step-up in law enforcement scrutiny of the ex-president. And it comes amid a separate but intensifying probe into Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
