Copiague student arrested for making threats on social media

Suffolk County police arrested a 13-year-old student in Copiague on Monday for making threats on social media claiming he would shoot teachers and students at the middle school.

Parents took their kids out of school after two threats of violence in the Copiague School District, with the first threat on social media, directed at the middle school. Someone also phoned in a threat to the high school, which prompted the building to be evacuated.

The 13-year-old boy is charged with making a threat of mass harm. He’s expected to make an appearance in family court at a later date. School is expected to be in session tomorrow.
