A New York Times report claims a federal prosecutor has submitted a letter to ethics watchdogs in the House of Representatives questioning whether Congressman George Santos’ seven-year marriage was all a scheme to get his wife U.S. citizenship.
The prosecutor claims Santos and his ex-wife from Brazil lived separate lives as he dated men throughout the marriage.
If officials find that Santos entered the marriage to get citizenship for his wife, he could face up to five years behind prison and his former wife could be deported.
