Hands holding protest signs. Workers going on Strike

Northwell Health has reached a tentative agreement with the nurses’ union at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, avoiding a potential strike ahead of their Feb. 21 strike deadline.
The union and the New Hyde Park-based health system came to an agreement early Sunday; the LIJ Valley Stream staff is set to vote on the agreement Tuesday.
The nurse’s union says the agreement will include improvements to staffing standards, pension benefits as well as wage increases.
