Blakeman will Also Encourage Residents to Observe County-Wide Moment of Silence
FREEPORT, NY – Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman, representatives from the Nassau County Police Department and Fire Marshall’s Office will provide a public safety update ahead of Memorial Day weekend, including preparations being taken for Jones Beach Air Show.
Blakeman will also encourage residents to observe the Nassau County-Wide Moment of silence in honor of Memorial Day.
Residents are asked to pause for 50 seconds at 12pm and 6pm, pulling their cars over to the side of the road if it is safe to do so, to honor our fallen American heroes.
NICE Bus will pause their service for 50 seconds at those times.
The county-wide 50-second moments of silence will take place on Memorial Day at 12 noon, 6:00 pm.
Every fire house, and emergency service vehicle in the county will sound their sirens and horns exactly at those times, and every church in the Diocese of Rockville Centre will ring their bells, to remind residents to remember our nation’s fallen heroes.
County Executive Blakeman will talk about the importance of getting back to the root of the holiday and honoring our fallen service men and women.
Firehouse Sirens, Police Sirens, and others will go off to let residents to know what to expect
